Welcome Back to Storey Park,
Kieran Foran

We were very excited when Kieran Foran contacted us offering his time to help out at training as a coaching mentor for our club. It is so great that he wants to give back to his very own junior club, the Mighty Asquith Magpies.

Kieran joined us at our recent Come and Try session meeting coaches and the junior players. We look forward to a great season with Kieran on board to help develop our players and coaching staff.

Our Junior Magpies flew the nest to Tamworth recently to participate in The National Primary Games.

Teams from our Under 8's through to our Under 14's played Rugby League games over two days in a carnival atmosphere competing against teams from across the country.

Despite the cold early mornings and the tough dry country conditions, our junior magpies and club volunteers enjoyed a fantastic weekend of sportsmanship playing and celebrating our great sport of Rugby League.

Further team reports will be available shortly, so please keep an eye on our News Page.

Our Senior and Junior Magpies flew high supporting the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) in line with the National Rugby League's Beanie for Brain Cancer Round. The Asquith Magpies are proud to support The Mark Hughes Foundation which raises much needed funds to promote research, heighten awareness and support brain cancer patients and families.

Our Asquith Magpies committee members and club volunteers have been busy selling MHF Beanies throughout our teams and at Storey Park during home games matches.

As a result Storey Park has been awash with Beanies for Brain Cancer, with players and spectators alike donning a Mark Hughes Foundation beanie and supporting Beanies for Brain Cancer.

If would like to contribute to raising much needed funds for brain cancer, direct donations can be made to the Mark Hughes Foundation here.

Beanies for Brain Cancer

In addition to selling Beanies for Brain Cancer, the Asquith Magpies held a very special Family Fun Day Fundraising Event at Storey Park on Saturday 16th June in order to raise further funds for the Mark Hughes Foundation.

Storey Park was a-buzz with lots of fun and laughter during our Family Fun Day. There was plenty of exciting activities for the kids including face-painting, NRL Skills Clinics, visits from Muscles the Magpie and Barney the Bear, all culminating in the much anticipated Asquith Magpies Inaugural Mad Mascot Dash.

All funds raised throughout the day from our activities went to the Mark Hughes Foundation. Together with selling the MHF Beanies from the Storey Park Canteen, the Asquith Magpies raised just shy of $6,000.

Special thanks to  our wonderful sponsors for their generous donations, Fretus Waste Services, 5Star Real Estate, Pharmacy 4 Less, North Sydney Bears, Magpies Waitara and Ferraro's Pizza. Our Family Fun Day wouldn't have been a success without your help.

Our Under 8's have capped off a successful season with an impressive performance at the Tommy Bishop Shield in Cronulla.

The Tommy Bishop Shield is a Round Robin / Knock Out Carnival comprising of 32 Under 8 teams from all over Sydney and NSW.

Our Mini Magpies spent the morning playing against some very strong and tough opponents during the Round Robin stage, however rose above it by playing with great determination and team work to finish top of their pool! A fantastic achievement!

The Under 8's then advanced to the Knock Out Semi-Final played at Southern Cross Stadium. Unfortunately the result didn't go our way, but they can all be very proud of their achievements to make it that far! And we're sure it was a day our mini magpies will never forget being able to play at Shark Park. Congratulations!

Please click through the gallery below to see some highlights from their day.

Our junior magpies embracing #RESPECT round this week.
Every round should be #RESPECT round.

In 2018 the Asquith Magpies fielded two Under 6 teams playing modified league-safe football. League safe is a modified version of rugby league designed to give the kids confidence in their skills, without the big hits parents might see on TV and the kids just love it!

Our Under 6 players and parents this year have made lots of new friendships. The kids have looked forward to waking up each Saturday morning to get out on the field, run around outdoors and to play as part of a team. And when it was Asquith Black versus Asquith White, our kids gave it their all.

If you have a 4+ year old looking to join a family orientated club, boasting the most affordable fees on the North Shore and want to get active playing sport in winter, please feel free to contact us via the website or click here to learn more about playing for the mighty magpies. 2019 registrations are now open.
