How to become a Magpie
Rugby League is a wonderful sport that a lot of children and young adults enjoy playing. Not only is it a way of making many new friends, it is a way for children to develop their fitness, flexibility, self-confidence, sportsmanship and life skills in general. Such skills include teamwork, listening, communication and leadership. For those with the appropriate talent, desire and work ethic, Rugby League provides pathways to achieve success at the elite level.
Parents should be aware that Junior Rugby League is a different game to the NRL that you see on TV. Junior Rugby League is played in a protected and controlled environment known as “Safe Play”. The aim of the sport is to provide kids with the opportunity to “safely” play in a team sport, develop their skills, make friends and have a lot of fun. Indeed, Junior Rugby League has a lower incidence of injury than many other sports (as evidenced by the Medibank Survey into injuries in sport). At Asquith Rugby League Football Club, our commitment is to provide the opportunities for children and young adults to play Rugby League and for parents to be involved. We strive to do this in a safe, friendly environment for all. The NRL on the other hand is a professional sport where the whole aim is to win the Premiership. Of course, we always hope that some of our players can develop to the NRL level over the years.
Rugby League also provides lots of opportunities for parents and guardians of children. Not only do you get to see children play, you can enjoy the many social events that occur in our club and you can participate as a volunteer.
In 2020, we are accepting registrations for teams in all Junior grades for boys, girls and mixed from Under 6 through to Under 18 and Senior Grades of Under 23’s, Sydney Shield and Ron Massey.
Asquith Magpies continues to offer terrific value for families.
- For the 2020 season we have a flat registration fee of $150. This means you only pay $50 per child where you choose to use your Active Kids Voucher of $100.
- Our registration includes your team jersey, shorts, socks, insurance plus more.
- To keep our fees as low as possible we also offer a 10% discount for early bird registrations before 9th February 2020.
- We have additional discounts available for families with 3 or more children when registering together at the same time. This means fees for your 3rd and subsequent child, will be limited to the Active Kids Voucher only, with no out of pocket costs to you and a saving of at least $50 for each of those children.
